It's Independance Day

Good morning 4th of July!  It has been so fun learning about the history of our country during Darian's kindergarten History course.  The holiday seemed to hold so much more meaning for all of us as we learned about so many different struggles that people went through and survived to make this country our home.  Needless to say we wanted to go all out for this celebration in honor of those people who have done so much for us to be able to live in our country. Even though there are so many things that are such a disappointment of where we are at now but to be able to have the Freedom's we do we are grateful for.
Our red eggs & red, white & blue pancakes.

Had to make the 4th of July bows for the girls.  Man I wish I had some nieces to give these to since I have like 15 from all the different ribbons.

 The 'Before'.
The 'After'.

Thanks to Pinterest for some fun ideas we did red, white & blue strawberries and I have gotten quite good at layered jello.  I decided these would be a fun tradition to do for different holidays as well since there are so many fun jello colors to choose from.  We cut them out into stars & flag shapes.
Another pinterest idea was Independence day punch.  It's supposed to have more of a white layer but o well, it still tasted pretty good.
This was a fun & super easy little project that the kiddos loved. Flag fruit kabobs.  It's upside down but you get the point that it's a flag.   Needless to say we had such a great time hanging out, eating & celebrating.
Derron installed a misting system in our backyard earlier that day so we were able to keep cool during the hot afternoon & evening and I am sure we will be getting a lot of use out of it the rest of the summer.
